Props final post

These are the final images for each of my props. They show a maya render, a unity screenshot, and the normal/diffuse/spec maps. The props are a barrel, a crown, gems that the player would collect, and a sword that the player would use. The most difficult prop was probably the sword because I used more abstract shapes for the overall model.

Lighting/rendering progress

For this week I mostly worked on lighting. The only thing that is left to do is set up my final render, and import the props into unity.

April 9 progress

The first image is a group shot of each of my props. The easy prop was the barrel, the medium prop was the crown, and the difficult prop was the sword. Bellow are close up renders of each prop.

The barrel is a simple cylinder with three rings around it. I used a wood texture and metal textures for the rings.
The sword uses multiple different textures all of which were from cgtextures.com. The glow affect was added in Maya.
The crown uses a brass texture for most of it. For the gems, I added a color overlay to ice textures in Photoshop.

Prop update April 2

This is my progress for my props. I added textures to both props. The simple prop is a barrel that is textured with wood and metal textures from cgtextures. The more complex prop is a sword textured with various textures from cgtextures. I also added a glow effect to the sword.

Props progress

These are the props I have been working on for the past week. the object on the left is the character's sword, the object on the right is a barrel that will contain various collectible items. I still need to apply textures to these items. I also plan on adding additional props that will make the environment more interesting.

Prop reference gathering

These are the reference images for my props. The first is a sword from the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. I like this sword because of the interesting design and the simple color scheme. The shield is the hylian shield from the Zelda series. I would like to make a metal shield with some sort of design on it.

Arch Viz final

This is my final product for the arch viz project. I raised the overall height of the walls to give a better picture, and I also decreased the size of my wall texture. The first image is my final render from maya, the second image is my ambient occlusion render, The third image is the final image with the background added. Throughout the project the lighting was probably the most difficult part. Working with two different windows each giving a different amount of light was difficult, but I am happy with the final product. All of the textures I used were from cgtextures.com.

Arch Viz week 3 progress

This is the progress for my room for week 3. I used wood textures for the walls, floor, and table. I used a stone texture for the fireplace, a leather texture for the couches and chair, and a plaster texture for the ceiling. I got all of the textures from CG textures. The most challenging part for me was getting the lighting done correctly.

Arch Viz part 1 progress

The first image I have is of the starting blueprint. It is the same blueprint as my research phase. The next image is a wireframe image of the building. The third image is a solid image of the walls with outlines for the doors and windows, I had trouble removing the doors and windows, so I left the outlines there to indicate where they would go. I also had trouble with the edge loops so I had to leave the doors looking plain. The final image is  the building with the roof.

Arch Viz Part 1 Reference Gathering

For this project I wanted to do a log cabin. the blueprint is of a one-story log cabin with 7 rooms and a porch. I think the size is perfect as it is small enough to be manageable, but large enough to be interesting.
The interior will mostly be wooden walls and floors, and some wooden furniture. I also want to include a large stone fireplace. I think wooden textures will be easy to find and work with for the walls floor and furniture such as tables and shelves. I may also include a loft like the one in the lower picture.
